Turning Point USA, a high-profile conservative group whose mission is to “train, identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote freedom” is coming to Fullerton tomorrow as part of it’s national “Educate Don’t Mandate Tour.” The group has student chapters on college and high school campuses around the nation.

The event is from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at The Hotel Fullerton Anaheim on 1500 South Raymond Avenue in Fullerton. Tickets are free.

The TP USA stop comes on the heels of a controversial decision by the Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District Board of Education to prohibit Critical Race Theory principles from the district’s curriculum. Dozens of people spoke in support of and opposition to the ban, which passed on a 3-2 vote. Students from TP USA chapters at Yorba Linda and Esperanza high schools spoke in favor of keeping CRT out of their classrooms, while a group of students from PYLUSD chapters of the woke Left activist group Diversify Our Narrative opposed the ban.

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties.
