This Saturday morning is an opportunity to help the Laguna Canyon Foundation with its native plant nursery in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, caring for native plants from their seed stage to their mature, ready-to-be planted stage.

Volunteers can help with habitat restoration by collecting seeds, sowing seeds in flats, bumping plants up, planting at restoration sites, sterilizing plant containers, and helping maintain the nursery.

The volunteer event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Willow staging area at Laguna Coast Wilderness Park.

Participants must be at least 16 years old (those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian, and have a waiver must be signed by a parent/guardian), are advised to bring water and wear closed-toed shoes, layered clothing and sun protection.

Who is OC Independent?

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties. The opinions and stances articulated in OC Independent editorials flow from those principles, and are grounded in facts.
