A distance hike in Limestone Canyon this Saturday presents a great opportunity to experience the rain-watered greenness of Orange County’s outback .
The Irvine Ranch Conservancy is leading a 10-12 mile hike through the Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve for “physically fit hikers who enjoy the challenge of multiple steep climbs and descents.”
The hike begins at 7:30 a.m. and lasts for about 5 hours.
Hikers can take in sweeping views of Orange County and the Santa Ana Mountains.
The hike ,may include visits to The Sinks (Orange County’s “Grand Canyon”) and/or Dripping Springs.
The IRC recommends participants bring a sturdy day pack, a minimum of 3 quarts of water, trail snacks, closed-toe hiking shoes or boots, sunscreen, first aid and other supplies for a safe and healthy trail hike.
Each hiker should be comfortable with an average pace of 3 miles per hear.
Under-prepared hikers may prohibited from joining the hike.
