The unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine is in its fifth day, as the Ukrainian military and armed civilians mount a spirited and effective defense of their country.
How have Orange County’s representatives in Congress reacted? Here’s a sampling from their social media.
Rep. Michelle Steel
As Americans, we are committed to defending freedom at home and abroad. It's critical that we protect our NATO alliance and work together in support of Ukraine's right to defend herself from this unchecked aggression and violence. pic.twitter.com/095xHaeLTT

I’m glad we are joining our allies to take decisive action to cut Russia off from SWIFT.

We need to cut Russia off, enact severe, crippling sanctions and deliver support to Ukraine NOW. https://t.co/rZKnk8KNT9
Rep. Katie Porter
It is a dark time, for the people of Ukraine and for our global peace and security. The United States must stand steadfast against Russian authoritarianism and unprovoked aggression.

Together with partners and allies, we must support Ukraine, hold Russia accountable, and be prepared to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need. I will work with colleagues in Congress and with the Administration to respond swiftly.

Rep. Mike Levin
I’m on my way to Washington and will receive another Congressional briefing this evening on the situation in Ukraine. The Ukrainian people’s valiant defense of their nation is inspiring and I’m encouraged to see our allies around the world united in standing up to Putin.

Rep. Lou Correa…has nothing to say about the crisis in Ukraine. Since the invasion began, he has tweeted and posted about President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, college aid and joining with radical CHIRLA protesters – but nothing about the largest war in Europe since 1945, which has escalated to the point of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin engaging in nuclear saber-rattling.
