Let’s set the stage. California hosted the NFC championship game. Then it hosted the Super Bowl. Today it’s hosting the Super Bowl parade.
You can go to a bar, restaurant, gym, or Disneyland without a mask starting today.
But kids at schools? They remain masked because Gov. Newsom declared a state of emergency nearly 700 days ago. From that declaration, his Secretary of CA’s Health and Human Services Agency issued orders and mandates requiring kids to wear masks.
Newsom recently re-upped his state of emergency declaration. And our state legislature lacked the spine and constitutional fortitude to revoke it.
So let’s let them know exactly what we think of them. Repeatedly. Daily. Until this is lifted. Oh, and let’s remind them again in June when they’re on the ballot and again in November.
Assembly Member Cottie Petrie-Norris voted against lifting the state of emergency. She currently represents NB, but is moving to a different city so that she can run to represent Costa Mesa, Irvine, and Tustin. Do you live in those cities or Newport Beach or Huntington Beach? Tell her what you think.
Senator Dave Min voted against lifting the state of emergency. He’s not up for reelection until 2024.
But you know who is on the ballot, running for State Senate to represent the entire coastal district of Orange County? Current Huntington Beach Councilmember Kim Carr (endorsed by Petrie-Norris and Min, FYI). You should know where she stands on this issue. So ask her.
Carr, by the way, is running against Assembly Member Janet Nguyen – who voted to end the state of emergency.
Folks, this is a defining issue in their races. Are they with our kids or with the government unions?
Heck, I’ll make it easy for you. Their contacts are in the links below.
Because look, we’ve been told to wait “two weeks” before. We’re still waiting two years later. No more.
