The Orange County backcountry is home to thousands and thousands of acres of truly beautiful wildlands and open space. And much of it is open to public recreation and enjoyment. Bommer Canyon and the Ridge Route Loop are just one of those option. And the Irvine Ranch Conservancy exists to ensure the public can enjoy the outdoors while being good stewards of it.
This Saturday, April 2 the IRC is organizing a moderate-paced hike in Bommer Canyon and along the Ridge Route Loop. The hike is a little more than 3 miles with moderate elections, with some steep inclines along the way.
You must register in advance.
The IRC recommends participants be in good physical condition, and they must sign an IRC Liability Waiver (click here to get one). Brings the signed waiver with you (your children can be on it, as well) because no waivers will be available at the hike.
Hikers can enjoy the coastal sage scrub and view of Irvine to one side and hillsides to another. The scenery will be verdant after our recent rains.
The IRC also recommend bringing whatever you feel necessary for a safe hike, including water, proper attire, and closed-toe footwear and first aid.
The hike is from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m., staging from the Bommer Canyon Cattle Camp in Bommer Canyon.
