Join the Irvine Ranch Conservancy for a 2.5 mile hike along the west shore of Irvine Lake. Enjoy the green hillsides, soak up the views around Orange County’s premier lake and bring binoculars to see wintering migratory birds.

The hike is a 3 on the 1 to 5 hiking Difficulty Ratings. There’s a $5 parking fee to enter Irvine Lake.

Hikers are encouraged to bring with plenty (50 oz) of water, sun protection and a good day pack with whatever you need to be healthy on the hike. Closed-toe shoes are required, and dogs are not allowed.

Consult the IRC’s Trail Tips and FAQ for additional preparatory information.

The hike is from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and leaves from the Irvine Lake staging area.

Who is OC Independent?

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties. The opinions and stances articulated in OC Independent editorials flow from those principles, and are grounded in facts.
