Enjoy a good stretch of the legs this Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a challenging distance hike in the scenic Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve.

It is a 10-13 mile hike for physically fit hikers who are good with multiple steep climbs and descents. The hike is a “4” on the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings, and offers views of Orange County and the Santa Ana Mountains, plus the chance of wildlife sightings and maybe stops at The Sinks and/or Dripping Springs. Expect an average pace of 3 miles per hour.

The hike begins at the Augustine Staging Area.

Participants should bring a day pack, a minimum of 3 quarts of water, snacks, closed-toe hiking shoes or boots, sunscreen, first aid, and all other appropriate supplies. Hikers must registered ahead of time (no walk-ins) and bring a signed liability waiver – none will be available on site.

The waiver can be accessed and downloaded for print at home use here:  IRC Liability Waiver 2020.05

Arrive with all necessary equipment to keep you safe on the trail, including water, proper attire, and closed-toe footwear, first aid, health needs etc.

Restrooms will be available, but facilities will not be sanitized for each individual.

Who is OC Independent?

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties. The opinions and stances articulated in OC Independent editorials flow from those principles, and are grounded in facts.
