Motorists should expect delays and plan alternate routes this weekend as construction work on the westbound 91 Express Lanes in Orange County will result in lane closures Friday night to Sunday morning.
The work on the Orange County side will affect the westbound 91 Express Lanes and the westbound regular SR-91 freeway lane closest to the 91 Express Lanes.
Scheduled closures include:
- All westbound 91 Express Lanes between the Riverside County/Orange County border and SR-55 in Anaheim from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, to 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.
- The westbound SR-91 regular lane closest to 91 Express Lanes (between Green River Road and SR-241) from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, to 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. (If needed for additional construction, the same regular lane will also close between 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, and 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.)
The Orange County Transportation Authority, which operates the 91 Express Lanes in Orange County, scheduled the lane closures to install new equipment at the westbound entrance to the Express Lanes.
Drivers using the 91 freeway through the area should also be advised that extensive additional work is being performed on eastbound SR-91 and the 91 Express Lanes on the Riverside County side this weekend.
The Riverside County Transportation Commission, as part of its 91 Refresh project, will close all eastbound lanes of SR-91, including the eastbound 91 Express Lanes, between Lincoln Avenue and Main Street in Corona between 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24. For more information on that project, visit https://www.rctc.org/projects/91-refresh-project/.
The 91 Express Lanes in Orange County is a 10-mile toll facility in each direction between the border with Orange and Riverside counties and SR-55 in Anaheim. It offers a reliable, time-saving alternative for drivers commuting through the area.
