A morning equestrian ride is planned for this Thursday, December 15 in Weir Canyon, part of the OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space.
The 5-mile ride begins at 10:00 a.m. from parking Lot C at Irvine Regional Park, and lasts for around 4 hours. Participating riders must be at least 18 years old, and pre-registration is required.
The ride will weave through Weir Canyon’s beautiful oak woodland, home to deer, coyotes, bobcats, and many different birds. Equestrians will travel the route of the Butterfield Stage and see a monument dedicated to the Mexican ox cart drivers. Time permitting, the ride will ascend to the Two Tower vista point to look at distant views. T
Equestrians who have trail riding experience and their own fit and able horse are welcome. You will need to transport your horse to the staging area. Owners of unshod horses, please note that footing will include areas of gravel and distances over asphalt pavement. Please bring water on the ride.

Arrive with all necessary equipment for trail safety, including water, proper attire, and closed-toe footwear, first aid, health needs etc.
Restrooms will be available, but facilities will not be sanitized for each individual.
