The Irvine Ranch Conservancy is organizing a docent-led morning mountain bike ride in OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space this Sunday, March 11.

The five-hour, 25-mile ride is for very experienced off-road riders in excellent cardio shape. You’ll climb challenging State Spur to Cathedral Rock, and then descend into Fremont Canyon while passing some of Orange County’s most spectacular geological formations. The ride continues out to Mini-Moab and then over to Sierra Peak, passing the Tecate Cypress forest, then past Sierra Peak, and over to the last descent down through historic Black Star Canyon.

The ride is Level-5 activity on the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings scale. Visit the IRC FAQ page for answers to activity specific questions you may have prior to registering.

The ride begins at 7:30 a.m. starts at the Red Rock staging area in the Fremont Canyon Nature Preserve. Pre-registration is required.

Who is OC Independent?

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties. The opinions and stances articulated in OC Independent editorials flow from those principles, and are grounded in facts.
