Enjoy a fitness hike through one of Orange County’s lesser known natural preserves: Buck Gully Reserve in Newport Beach.
The 5-mile hike is this Tuesday morning, August 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., starting at the staging area at 5th and Marguerite.
Buck Gully is a natural coastal canyon that opened to the public in 2012 with the installation of four bridges to provide safe public access. The bridges allow exploration of the entire Buck Gully Reserve, and also provide unique vantages and viewing platforms from which to pause and observe the abundant life in and around the stream that runs through the gully year-round.
Click here to pre-register for the hike; no walk-in registration is permitted. Participants must have a signed liability waiver.
The guided hike begins with a short walk from the Oasis Senior Center to the beginning of the Buck Gully trail, with a visually dramatic entrance into this special canyon. The first leg of the hike crosses two bridges before the canopied singletrack portion of the trail while passing the third bridge. The hike pauses at the fourth and final bridge before retracing the route back to the Oasis.
