The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is gearing up for its annual “Stuff the Bus” giving event at the Honda Center on December 8. This initiative encourages the community to come together and make a difference in the lives of children facing economic challenges during the festive season.

The public is encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys or sporting equipment to the Honda Center parking lot, 2695 E. Katella Avenue, Anaheim (adjacent to Katella and SR-57) from 4 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Gifts for older children and teenagers such as skateboards, watches and makeup kits and brushes are also welcome.

The toys collected will be distributed to community organizations through the Spark of Love Toy Drive, a program that has collected more than 10 million toys for kids in Southern California since the 1990s.
ABC7 will be on-site to broadcast the event and greet the public, while firefighters and other first responders from across Southern California will help collect the toys and load them into buses, many provided by the Orange County Transportation Authority.

Similar drives take place in Los Angeles and Ventura counties but the Orange County drive has traditionally collected the largest number of toys – filling more than 28 buses full of toys at its peak.

Who is OC Independent?

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties. The opinions and stances articulated in OC Independent editorials flow from those principles, and are grounded in facts.
