Former Angels infielder and 2002 World Series champion Adam Kennedy will headline a fan rally in Irvine on Friday, April 26 – celebrating the 2024 Angels baseball season and marking the return of the popular Angels Express fan train service.
The rally is hosted by the Orange County Transportation Authority and kicks off at 3:45 p.m. on April 26 at the the Irvine Station, 15215 Barranca Parkway.
The free event will giveaways from the Angels Strike Force pep squad and include prizes, activities and refreshments before the Angels Express trains depart from the Irvine Station to Anaheim. (Train 699x at 4:49 p.m. or train 689 at 5:17 p.m.).
“Come out and celebrate Orange County’s baseball team with fellow Angels fans and let the fun continue on a convenient, affordable train ride that drops you off and picks you up again right at the ballpark’s doorstep,” said OCTA Chair Tam T. Nguyen. “By taking the train, you can avoid sitting in traffic and you’re easing traffic all around. Everyone wins.”
Angels Express trains this season will be available for every regularly scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday Angels home game, running roundtrip from Oceanside, Riverside and Los Angeles to Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
Adult roundtrip tickets are $10 per person, and up to three kids ages 17 and under can ride free with each paying adult, making the Angels Express an affordable option for families. Metrolink’s Anaheim stop at the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) is right next to Angel Stadium, allowing for a short walk to the ballpark.
The special Angels Express service returns for the first time since the 2019 season. It was halted during the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time, Angels Express service on the IEOC Line originates at the Riverside-Downtown Station and will take passengers directly to Anaheim without requiring a transfer.
Return trains are timed to leave approximately 30 minutes after the last out, giving passengers time to make the walk back to the train station. (Because the stadium usually hosts fireworks on Saturdays, the trains will depart 30 minutes after fireworks on those nights.)
Angels Express tickets can be purchased on the Metrolink mobile app or at any Metrolink ticket machine on the day of the game.
In the last year of service in 2019, more than 30,000 fans got to an Angels game by using the service, which is paid for with funding from OCTA, Metrolink, the Riverside County Transportation Commission and Los Angeles Metro.
