Spend your morning tomorrow helping to water and weed within the new butterfly habitat islands in Limestone Canyon, part of OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space. Participants will maintain “islands” of host and nectar plants for butterflies in decline in Limestone Canyon.

Participants will be board a safari-style truck at the Augustine Staging Area in the Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve and be transported from butterfly island to butterfly island through a beautiful oak woodland.

Advance registration is required – no walk-up registration is permitted.

Please arrive with all necessary equipment to keep you safe on the trail, including water, proper attire, and closed-toe footwear, first aid, health needs etc.

Restrooms will be available, but facilities will not be sanitized for each individual.

All participants are required to sign a liability waiver upon arrival at the staging area and before beginning the activity.

Who is OC Independent?

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties. The opinions and stances articulated in OC Independent editorials flow from those principles, and are grounded in facts.
