OC Parks is hosting a Wilderness Access Day for Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve this Saturday, February 1. The public will have access to a wide variety of opportunities to stretch their legs and enjoy Orange County’s abundance of natural open space – from relaxing short hikes to strenuous 15-mile cardio treks to invigorating mountain biking outings.

A popular attraction is visiting the majestic “The Sinks” – a 9-mile round trip hike over moderate terrain.

The Wilderness Access Day begins at 8:00 a.m., and all trails must be cleared by 2:00 p.m.

Pre-registration is required and can be done by clicking on this link.

Other things to keep in mind:

  • Dogs are prohibited on the Irvine Ranch Open Space. By nature, dogs are predators; their presence and their lingering scent disturb the indigenous wildlife and disrupt vital routines long after a dog has left the area.
  • Minors, ages 18 and under, should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

OC Parks recommends visiting Trail Tips to plan and prepare and get the most out of their day.

Who is OC Independent?

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties. The opinions and stances articulated in OC Independent editorials flow from those principles, and are grounded in facts.
