Outdoor enthusiasts are invited to join a guided distance hike across Loma Ridge into the newly opened Red Rock Wilderness, part of OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space. The hike, which features sweeping views and moderate elevation changes, will follow well-maintained trails at a steady pace of approximately 3 miles per hour.
The journey includes stretches across the top of the iconic Red Rocks, offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscape. Rated as a Level 5 difficulty activity, this outing is best suited for experienced hikers ready for a physically demanding route.
Participants must come fully prepared. Each hiker is required to carry a sturdy day pack with at least 100 ounces (3 quarts) of water, snacks, sunscreen, closed-toe hiking shoes or boots, and other necessary gear to remain safe and healthy on the trail. Under-prepared individuals may be turned away.
Advance registration is required — no walk-up participants will be admitted. To ensure safety and readiness, hikers must:
- Arrive with all necessary equipment, including proper footwear and personal health supplies.
- Sign a liability waiver on site before participating.
- Review the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings to confirm this activity is an appropriate match for their fitness level.
Restroom facilities will be available at the staging area, though they will not be sanitized between uses. As a courtesy to others, anyone experiencing symptoms of illness or recent exposure to someone who is sick is asked to refrain from participating.
