January 9 is the 110th anniversary of the birth of Richard Nixon, the 37th President of the United House and only Orange County native to hold the nation’s highest office.

To commemorate the event, the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda is offering free admission from all day on Monday, January 9, and a wreath-laying ceremony at the gravesites of President Nixon and First Lady Pat Nixon, both of whom are buried at library site.

The ceremony takes place at 11:00 a.m. and includes the laying of a wreath sent from President Joseph Biden to honor his predecessor, President Nixon, accompanied by remarks by United States Navy Captain Jessica O’Brien, Commanding Officer at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, the Presentation of the Colors and singing of the National Anthem, plus patriotic musical performances by Navy Band Southwest

The Nixon Library will be open to the public on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is located at 18001 Yorba Linda Blvd in Yorba Linda.

Who is OC Independent?

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties. The opinions and stances articulated in OC Independent editorials flow from those principles, and are grounded in facts.
