The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) returned to the Anaheim Convention Center today – the massive trade show will run through April 15.

50,000 attendees from around the globe are expected the participate in the three-day – the largest trade show that comes to the Anaheim Convention Center, where it has been held annually since 1978.

NAMM is a not-for-profit association that promotes the $17 billion music products industry, comprised of 15,000 global member companies and individual professionals who bring together music, sound, entertainment and technology.

An annual show highlight is NAMM’s Music for Life Award, which will be presented this year to rock icon John Fogerty, the lead singer and creative force behind Creedence Clearwater Revival, as well as his own slew of hits in the 1980s. Past winners of the award include Stevie Wonder, Garth Brooks, Smokey Robinson, Yoko Ono, and Jason Mraz.

The Anaheim Convention Center will be packed with vendors demonstrating every kind of instrument under the sun, speakers, sound systems, software, performance equipment – every kind of product and technology that goes into making music.  NAMM also features hundreds of hundreds of free education sessions and networking opportunities.

The OC Independent is dedicated to providing factual, informative reporting on Orange County government, politics, education and quality of life issues such as homelessness and access to housing. We seek to illuminate aspects of issues, movements and trends that receive little or no attention from more established, mainstream outlets. Our editorial philosophy is grounded in the principles of the American Founding: limited government, federalism, the separation of powers and equality before the law as indispensable to securing our liberties.
