A moderate-paced guided hike is scheduled through the Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve, a section of OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space. The half-day excursion will traverse both double and single-track trails, with a total elevation gain of approximately 1,000 feet.
Participants will visit scenic viewpoints at the East and West Sinks before returning through the canyon, with opportunities to observe expansive vistas and the notable geological formations known as The Sinks.
Hikers are required to be well-prepared for backcountry conditions. Essential gear includes a sturdy day pack, sufficient water, snacks, closed-toe hiking shoes or boots, sunscreen, first aid supplies, and any additional items necessary for safety and personal health.
Advance registration is mandatory; walk-up participants will not be permitted. All attendees must arrive with appropriate equipment and are required to sign a liability waiver at the staging area before the hike begins. The waiver is available for review in advance via the IRC Liability Waiver link.
Facilities will include restrooms, though they will not be sanitized after each use. Adherence to all safety protocols is a condition of participation. Individuals displaying signs of illness or who have had recent exposure to someone who is ill are asked not to attend, out of respect for fellow hikers, volunteers, and staff.
This event is rated as a level-4 activity on the 1-through-5 difficulty scale. Participants are encouraged to consult the Difficulty Ratings and FAQ page to assess their readiness and to address any further inquiries before registering.
