Registration is now open for the Irvine Police Teen Community Police Academy, scheduled for July 20th thru July 24th. (There is a second session from July 27th thru July 31st.)
The academy — open to Irvine teens 14-18 years of age — provides an in-depth look into the day-to-day operations of a law enforcement agency.
The Community Police Academy (CPA) is a 10-week program that offers a behind-the-scenes look at IPD through classroom instruction, hands-on activities, and live demonstrations.
Participants will learn about traffic enforcement, patrol operations, and specialty units such as Detectives, K9, and SWAT. Instructors include command staff, veteran officers, and professionals who share their expertise and experiences. The CPA is also an excellent opportunity for those considering a career in law enforcement.
Classes meet on Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Irvine Police Department. Graduates leave with a deeper understanding of how IPD serves the community and how residents can partner with us to enhance safety.
